Week 59: Lots going on and no time

Hi everyone!

Quickly!

So this week we met some awesome potentials, Sveta and Marta, who are so wonderful and ready! We've already seen them three times and we're going for tea next week!

We also had a lady walk in a little drunk ready to hear the Gospel! We were sitting in the church and she walks in and says, “Who do I talk to about the church?” We were like, “Actually, that’s us!!” She had a broken and contrite spirit and wanted a change, but when we called her back and she hadn’t been drinking, she wasn’t as ready. Hopefully we can still teach her sometime soon!

We attended a baptism this last weekend for two people. Unfortunately, Kristina (who we’ve been teaching) didn’t make it to the baptism. Crazy story about these two that got baptized-Sister Soucie and I called this lady every day for three transfers straight (that’s 18 weeks...4 ½ months!!) when we found her in our book of contacts. We only got to speak to her once during that whole time. Fast forward and we finally get to talk to her again. When we finally do, she has met and married a husband! They were both interested in learning about the Gospel and so we had to pass them off to the Elders since we sisters don't teach males. So cool that they BOTH wanted to be baptized! All in God's timing. They even made homemade pizza for the ward to celebrate their baptisms. Utah culture is strong, even all the way over here in Ukraine haha.

Sorry, just too busy over here giving out copies of the Book of Mormon and inviting others to come unto Christ!

Love you all!

Week 58:

Alrighty everyone, I'm going to make this quick cause for once I actually have time, but I still haven't talked to my family-so here we go!
Another CRAZY week!! We started off by our investigator, Kristina, agreeing to baptism!!! Heck yeah! So it all went downhill from there. Tuesday, our lights got shut off so we were living in the dark for three days and Sister Thompson also got incredibly sick, so double whammy. She pushed through though, major trooper, and we didn't stay home until Friday, International Women's Day- yes it is a huge holiday here. It was so bad we had to call the elders over to give her a blessing, which turned out to be a blessing because one of our elders picked the lock to our fuse box and the other is an electrician, so they were able to give us light too. Yeah, we are a little confused about how he learned how to pick a lock, but we are grateful nonetheless.
I can't think of anything else that was significant to share from this week...
We went to these Orthodox church, dead priest grave caves, and I am just so glad that I have the Gospel in my life. There is so much happiness in the Gospel.
I actually took some pictures this week!
1. knocked over the lamp in the dark
2. I look at the bread and it molds here- 5 days old

Week 57: The weirdest miracle from God I've ever seen

Hey everyone!
This week was pretty crazy. We got transfers this week and... I'M STAYING IN KHARKIVSKY with Sister Thompson!!!!! I'm so excited!
We were out of our area 3 days this week so that was fun! We still got lots of missionary work done and got a couple of new investigators to go with it. Our investigator we are most excited about is Kristina- she's 24 and we have already met with her twice and we're meeting again tonight. She has been so prepared. She said she prayed to know that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet and she said she believes it! I'm just really praying that that's true and that she didn't just say that cause she feels that that was the right answer- It's almost too good to be true!
Matfe, the miracle investigator, came to church! He met the elders and is excited to meet with them! We also had a Potential come to church named Nadia. She is so awesome- she'll probably become an investigator this week, if not next week. The work is picking up here in Kharkivsky! I am so glad to be staying in Kharkivsky for at least another 6 weeks!
Alright, the story you've all been waiting for! Well first off, we went to the embassy so I could get a new passport since I lost mine a transfer ago, but it's all good now! Your girl is legal! Okay, but the story! This actually answers Uncle Rob's (shout out) question about the weirdest thing that has happened to me on my mission. So, we are contacting this man and in the middle of our conversation another man runs up and asks for a light- not weird, actually very common- but after we all say we don't have a lighter, he looks at our pen (for our survey) and then looks at us, pulls out a pen and throws it at us, and then runs away. We were very confused, but after our contact, our pen stopped working. I testify that the Lord knows each of our needs and He wants to help us. Heck, the Lord threw down a pen from Heaven, He can help you with your bigger problems.
I love you all so much! Talk to you all next week!
